Grow Golden is geared towards small and local businesses in the DC area that seek both a physical storefront for their products and services and technical assistance to take their business to the next level. This program will feature entrepreneurs, makers, and creatives working in fashion, design, technology, food, retail, the arts, hospitality, fitness, health and wellness, and more. Established small businesses in the DC area are invited to apply to join Grow Golden. Selected businesses will receive multiple months of free rent and favorable terms for extending occupancy in the Golden Triangle.

Farmers Market SW is now accepting applications for the weekly Saturday market in SW DC. Opening April 3 and running every Saturday from 9AM to 1PM through November 2. Products of interest include: local farm produce, dairy, meats, and plants; baked goods; preserves & honey; oils & extracts; prepared foods & beverages with special consideration for breakfast items and fresh juice preparation; as well as non-food related items such as homeopathic bath & skin care items; candles and kitchen products.

DC Kiva Hub at DSLBD
Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) joined forces with Kiva, a nonprofit worldwide microlender, to offer DC businesses and DC resident entrepreneurs no-barrier, favorable term crowdfunding loans to help them open, operate, pivot and grow their business in the District of Columbia. Loans range from $1,000 to $15,000 awarded in less than 60 days and can be repaid at 0% interest over 12-36 months.

The purpose of the cash mob is to gather people to come out and make purchases from Black-owned businesses in an effort to inspire more support for Black-owned businesses in DC, and encourage more economic inclusion & equity for Black-owned businesses. The dream of owning your own retail storefront is real - Pedal Retail will talk about the good, the bad and the ugly to help you decide whether it's right for your business. We'll dive into the financial, business and lifestyle implications of having your own bricks-and-mortar shop. Then, we'll explain how the space rental process works (spoiler alert: it's not like renting an apartment), including who you'll need to hire, how much it costs and different basic deal structures (ie pop-up versus long term lease). This seminar is a safe space to ask questions about the process, which can be unnecessarily complicated and intimidating.
